LAST ENTRY =)

Assalamualaikum ......

This  is the last entry because we need to submit it on this Sunday !! This week Miss Ummi explained to us about chapter 10 and chapter 11 . Alhamdulillah . We already finish covered all chapter before final exam . fuhhhh ~

Okay, In chapter 10 we have learn about Building an Organization Capable of Good Strategy Execution. hmmmm ~ After learn this topic, I get many input what manager must to do execute strategy successfully. Beside that, I also learn about hiring, tiring, and retaining the right people constitute a key component of the strategy execution and I can understand that good strategy execution requires continuously building and upgrading the organizations resources and capabilities .



Thank you to Miss Ummi for everything that she teach to us for this semester . Pray for us in Final Exam ( 3-10 january 2014 ) . All the best everyone !!!! Good Luck !!!!

Sharing Session - Oshima restaurant

Assalamualaikum ....



Oshima Restaurant is one of HALAL japanese food located at Shah Alam Selangor.

This sharing session is very interesting. What I learn from this sharing session is do not do something for money but do Ikhlas for Allah and the  money will come later. moreover, everyone have their own fail but the important things is how you bounce back after the failure and must being positive all of the time.

Even though Madam Asnidar did not have any background of business, but she can be a strong person  to bounce back after the failure and she always want to study to get more knowledge in business.




I think Madam Asnidar like the owner of 1901 hotdong because they did not have any background knowledge in business but they success in their business . :)

TUTORIAL ACTIVITY 2

Week 11 dont have lecture for this subject because Miss Ummi was attended program at Akademi Pengajian Tinggi (AKEPT) at Sepang. But, I have task to complete this week .

First Question : If you are one of the TOP managers, what kind values would like to inculcate in your organization? Why does it so?


okay. first of all, if I be Top Managers at my organization what I want to do is Islamic Culture. Even in my organization also have non muslim worker but I want my organization be a good and the best organization in Malaysia because of Islamic Culture.  For example, I want all my worker solat berjemaah at earlier time. Other than that, I want all my muslim worker do solat dhuha because solat dhuha can bring a lot of benefit for us. 

Second Question Could you find an example of any organizations that have a good corporate culture? Name one of them.


For me, Telaga Biru is the good corporate culture because Telaga Biru do Islamic Ethic as I want in my organization .

Tutorial Activity : Case Study - The Digital Age : Shall I Tag Along

This is my second  case study I learn to solve problems. The first case study is about Robin Hood .

Before mid semester break , I do Tows Matrix to solve problem in " The Digital Age : Shall I tag Along " case study . In my opinion , Tows Matrix very difficult to do in personal because I must have many idea to do this tools . So, Madam Huda give me and my classmate exercise to do SWOT analysis before we do Tows Matrix .






all in this picture is what I and my classmate idea to do Tows Matrix . After , list all the SWOT analysis we must combine SO , WO , ST and WT . I think to combine point is easy but to give the new idea after combine the point is very difficult . 


I must work hard to do an exercise how to do Tows Matrix . I hope , not have question in final exam to do Tows Matrix. hehehe

The task is classified the one of the four categories of generic business business strategies which are :

1 . Focused Differentation : Louis Vitton
 - Brand Louis Vitton is the some of the luxury item. This brand more focused on                                              group high class people .

2 . Focused Cost Leadership : Mydin
 - In market , Mydin more focuses who want buy the thing by in bulk .

3 . Broad Differentation : IKEA
 - IKEA also is luxury item but the price is affordable with their product and everyone also can buy and get it .

4 . Broad Cost Leadership : KFC or McDonald
- everyone can go and eat KFC or McDonald because the price is affordable to all person . 




chapter 5 : generic strategies

What I understand about this topic is 5 strategies for all business do to attract their customer .



First : Focused Low - Cost .

Low cost provider means that their business more focused to some buyers who want buy item at the lower price.



Example for this strategy is MYDIN . Mydin more focuses who want buy their product by bulks. So, Mydin sell their item more cheaper than Giant and Tesco.

Second : Focused Differentiation

While, focused differentiation means that their business more focused to some buyers based on their taste and requirement of niche members

Example is handbag from Louis Vuitton. Everyone know that Brand Louis Vuitton is the some of the luxury item. This brand more focused on group high class people .


Third : Low - Cost Provider 

Means that, company want to achieve lower costs that rivals on their product to attract a broad spectrum buyers.
Example : KFC and McDonalds.


everyone can go to McD or KFC because their price is affordable with all people. even have some their food is quite expensive, but the taste of the food is superbbb !!!

Fourth : Broad Differentiation

broad differentiation is differentiating the firm’s product offering from rivals’ with attributes that  appeal to a broad spectrum of buyers . 


Example of this strategy is IKEA . IKEA also is luxury item but the price is affordable with their product and                                                     everyone also can buy and get it .


Fifth : Best Cost Provider 

Best cost provider means that their business give more value for the money by offering the quality product at a lower cost than rivals. 

Example : Perodua have many type for their product . Who want buy the car at the lower price, they can buy Viva. But, if they want the car like a luxury they can by Alza because Alza like more to high people taste but the price is more cheaper than the other company.

EVALUATING A COMPANY'S EXTERNAL ENVIRONMENT

Assalamualaikum ...........



In chapter 3 , I learn about "  Evaluating a Company's External Environment " topic . In summary, this topic is about thinking strategic about a firm in external environment .

Have two concept in this chapter which are macro-environment and PESTEL analysis . Macro - environment means encompasses the broad environmental context in which a company's industry is  situated. While , PESTEL analysis focuses on the six principal components of strategic significance in the macro - environment .


  • Political factors and Economic factors in the firms general environments ( local , country , regional and worldwide ) . 
  • Sociocultural forces , Technological  factors and Environmental factors ( concerning the natural environment ) 
  • Legal / Regulatory conditions
These components has the potential to affect the firm's more immediate industry and competitive environment . 


Others subtopic is about Immediate Industry and Competitive Environment . Competitive pressure on companies within an industry come from five sources . These include : 

  1. competition from rival sellers
  2. competition from potential new entrants to the industry
  3. competition from producers of substitute products
  4. supplier bargaining power
  5. customer bargaining power 
In brief , using these five sources have three steps involve  . 

  •  steps 1 : identify different parties involved , along with the specific factors that bring about competitive pressure
  • steps 2 : evaluate how strong the pressures stemming from each of the five sources either strong , moderate or weak . 
  • steps 3 : determine whether the strength of the five forces , overall , is conducive to earning attractive profits in the industry .

Chapter Two

on 17 September 2013 also learn about Vision and Mission .

What is the vision ?





Miss Ummi is according 'what we want to become ? ' in the future .

What is the mission ?


Mission is like how to achieve the vision ?

Basically , all of business , university , school and company have their own vision and mission for increase their ability to get the best result in future .



From this topic , I actually can imagine what I want to become and how I can achieve my vision . USIM also have their vision and mission . How about their student ? So , lets thinking about our vision and mission . :)




Chapter One !!

Assalamualaikum ........



On 17 September 2013, I have learn about Chapter One which is The Nature of Strategic Management .

Basically, in this chapter have three element which are :

1) Formulating
2) Implementing 
3) Evaluating

Stage of Formulating is related with SWOT analysis which are Strength , Weaknesses , Opportunity and Threats .




 In this stages , people must have their strategy and planning how to do it . What they planning , it will be performed at second stage namely Implementing stage . Lastly , if their planning not achieve what they want to be , they must find the mistake and from the mistake they learn form the mistake . This in Evaluating stage 

Other than that , I learn about Hierarchical Level of Strategy .

First Class Activity

Assalamualaikum . 


10 September 2013 is the first lecture for Strategic Management subject . Miss Ummi will teach us for 1 semester for this subject . My impression for the first lecture is boring but after she asked all of us to build the highest tower , I change my mind because this is the best subject . My group tower was the highest and the second strong tower than other . 



From this activity , I got a lot of lesson . We must have strategy and planning for daily life and how to manage the time given to get a best result .
